SnowSports School
The Boston Mills/Brandywine SnowSports School has been providing professional instruction for over thirty years. The staff consists of more than 385 instructors and boasts the largest number of certified instructors in the Midwest.
Michael Bell is Director of the Boston Mills/Brandywine SnowSports School. He is a fully certified instructor under the auspices of the Professional Snowsports Instructors of America, a demanding organization requiring extensive training and examining. Michael has been involved with Boston Mills for 21 years, 16 of those as an instructor.
The Boston Mills/Brandywine instructors are selected based on an intense preseason training program. They must pass extensive on-snow, oral and written examinations before they can become instructors. Clinics continue throughout the season to insure that Boston Mills/Brandywine instructors continue to improve their skiing and snowboarding teaching abilities.
The school uses the American Teaching Method which is based on improving one's skiing and snowboarding skills - including edging, steering, pressure control and balance on various types of terrain and at different levels of ability. The teaching philosophy is based on learning by having fun, with an emphasis on safety.
A very specialized group of instructors are trained to work with young children. This dedicated group creates a warm, fun atmosphere for their young students while teaching skills and safety. Classes and programs are designed for children ages 3 to 12. Boston Mills/Brandywine also has a race department consisting of experienced coaches. These coaches possess national, collegiate and international experience.
